Day 1
Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
Drive time: ~2.5 hours
After breakfast in Arusha, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a lush, compact park famous for its tree-climbing lions, large baboon troops, flamingos, and varied birdlife. Enjoy a scenic game drive through groundwater forests, acacia woodland, and lakeshore.
Later, transfer to your midrange lodge in Mto wa Mbu or Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Day 2
Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater
Drive time: ~1.5 hours
After an early breakfast, head to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wildlife sanctuary often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Descend 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive.
You’ll have the chance to see the Big Five, including black rhino, lions, elephants, and a rich concentration of other animals like hippos and flamingos. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo pool, then ascend the crater.
Return to your lodge in Karatu for a relaxed evening.

Day 3
Karatu – Arusha (Optional Cultural Stop)
Enjoy breakfast with views of the highlands, then begin your drive back to Arusha. On the way, you may opt for a guided cultural tour in Mto wa Mbu — exploring banana plantations, local markets, and Makonde woodcarving workshops (optional).
Arrive in Arusha by early afternoon.
